REVIEW: The Menu

Rated R • Score: 9.5/10

The only thing plain about this movie is just how great it is—plain amazing!Focused on the fictitious, exclusive restaurant called Hawthorne (located on a remote island, no less), The Menu brings together a stellar blend of thrills and comedic chops that left me both salivating and on the edge of my seat. From the start, Anya Taylor-Joy as Margot is a delight; her chemistry with every character with whom she shares the screen is marvelous. And Ralph Fiennes simply shines as chef Julian Slowik, offering an effective pairing of levity and rigidness. The film shines most when Taylor-Joy and Fiennes are on screen together. The storytelling is superb; just as Chef Slowik intends for his guests, the food tells an immersive and harrowing story for the audience. The bottom line: Whether you fancy yourself a foodie or just someone who likes a good time, this is a must! 9.5/10
